Hurst Farm and Station Road Sand and Gravel Quarry Planning Granted
We are pleased to announce that Dorset County Council’s planning committee resolved to grant planning permission for a new quarry at Hurst Farm. The Hurst Farm project has been ongoing for a number of years and the Raymond Brown Estates and Planning Committee has navigated working with the landlord, local interest groups, the council, statutory consultees, especially the Environment Agency, and other interested parties throughout this period.
The quarry has potentially over 11 million tonnes of sand and gravel. The importance of Hurst Farm is crucial for Dorset’s economy and will generate 600,000 tonnes per year of sand and gravel to the construction industry. It will add 2.2% to GB land won (ie not sea dredged) sand and gravel reserves.
Rob Westell, Estates and Planning Director commented: “It has taken over two years for our planning application to be determined by Dorset Council, but the wait is now over – we have committee resolution to grant planning permission subject to completion of a section 106 agreement.
Special thanks to all of my team – Rob Storey, Lauren Tuffin and Mark Renault. You should all be very proud of what we’ve achieved.”
